ALASKA-Alaska
A UNIQUE ADVENTURE
“Alaska - The Last Frontier”, it says on the fridge magnets, and how true the slogan is! The last state of the United States, just a stone’s throw from Russia, from which the territory was acquired in 1867. The state is so vast, that each one of Alaska’s 750,000 inhabitants could hypothetically claim a land area as big as a small European country - unexplored forests, lakes, rivers where bears, wolves and salmon live and prosper, far from “civilization”... The history of Alaska is inextricably linked to the Gold Rush, a period that is still very much in evidence, not just as a tourist attraction but in the very real hope that the Alaskan rivers will yield a few more nuggets of the precious metal.

The state also boats North America’s highest peak, Mount Denali at 6194 metres, within the eponymous gigantic national park. It is said that only 10% of visitors to the park have the fortune of seeing - let alone photographing! - “shy” Mount Denali through its protective veil of clouds.

As well as its forests and mountains, the third element that characterizes Alaska is the sea, fishing being perhaps the favoured activity of all Alaskans, whether as a hobby or professionally. Naturally, the rich fisheries of Alaska’s coasts also ensure the presence of countless species that we, as photographers, are keen to encounter: seabirds, birds of prey, otters, seals, whales - the list is long and exciting!

During this once-in-a-lifetime trip to Alaska, we will spend 11 days photographing as many of the beauties of this land as we possibly can - landscapes, forests, mountains, lakes, the sea, birds, mammals and people.

The supreme experience of this trip, without a doubt, will be our three-day visit to Lake Clark National Park, one of the least accessible national parks in the United States, reachable only by one the tiny planes that can land on the beach near our well-appointed lodge. Here, bears are king! We will have the chance to photograph this exciting mammal to our heart’s content, in several different locations, from an incredibly close range, within an idyllic landscape, during intensive sessions that will ensure we all leave the park with the best possible footage. All of this, combined with delicious food and accommodation in our luxurious lodge, as well as a break from the bears with a boat trip to photograph Pacific puffin colonies.

A photo trip like no other, under the guidance and instruction of Canon Photographer Babis Giritziotis, after our exploratory trip in 2024, during which we identified the best photo spots and built relationships with experienced guides and professionals in Alaska, so as to offer you an immersive, exciting and well-organized experience.
